This Master’s degree is entitled to provide students with a more concrete background within translation studies, specifically in the field of Multimedia and Audiovisual translation. This degree focuses on several goals with which students are expected to obtain a high level of expertise and savoir-faire in the multimedia spectrum. Likewise, postgraduates are taught the following competences and aptitudes: - Deep acquaintance in dubbing, subtitling, voice-over, audio description, website localization, vodeogames localization and IT tools localization - Knowledge on different audiovisual tools, softwares and techniques. To achieve so, students learn how to work with The Machine Translation Archive funded by the EAMT (European Association for Machine Translation) - Different software tools needed to translate web pages, video games or movie scripts - Implementation of the different procedures and techniques of subtitling and dubbing

The main subjects the degree was specialised on were translation subjects, where students learnt the different specialies of translation, such as: economic, sworn, audiovisual and literary translation, and how to deal with these translations from b and c languages to our mother tongue. Furthermore, there were also interpreting focused subjects where we learnt how to interpret different speeches and discourses in a professional environment for conference purposes. Besides of the Erasmus and Erasmus + projects the University of Vigo is involved in, the University has also signed an agreement with TermCord, the Terminology Coordination Unit of the European Union and it has also participated in Melinco project. The latter is an initiative regarding linguistic mediation for cooperation in development funded by the DG External Relations and the European Union that aims at promoting translation and interpreting in NGOs.
